Huge sinkhole in High Street, Godstone, Surrey, UK.

A major incident was declared in the village of Godstone, Surrey, after two substantial sinkholes emerged on the High Street. 30 properties were swiftly evacuated.

The initial collapse appeared late on Monday 17 February, rapidly expanding to over 20 metres by Wednesday. A second collapse was reported shortly after on the opposite side of the street.

Residents were evacuated due to concerns over potential gas explosions and infrastructure instability.
